Can you think of any time when you had a glass of vino and thought its just tasted ordinary? Yes, it must be in the way that it was badly manufacturered or it has something to do with how one stores the wine. Avoiding effects that could stimulate issues with wine is very important and one of the things you can do is control the amount of sun light, oxygen, extreme temperature and vibration that comes in contact with the wine.

Controlling light

Wine should be stored away in a dark room so the sun light cannot touch it. That is why you will notice that valuable wines are not usually displayed for people to see, they are just taken up if somebody requests for it. Light should always be kept at a minimum. Because wine bottles of today are made with tested UV filters, it is said that wine can be safe even though, at some point, light can still permeate through it. Light struck is the term used wherein light has got through the inside of the bottle. When this happens, an aroma of an dreadful odor will appear.

Controlling oxygen

Oxidisation of wine can be caused by the over exposure to air. When this happens, early aging results wherein the product is more of fermented vinegar instead of wine. The good news is that spoilt wine should be no issue because bottles are air tight as long as you have a good bottle cork to seal the wine in.

Make sure the bottle cork you use is damp so that no air can penetrate and spoil the wine, this will ensure your wine matures the right way. No wonder, one is advised to store wines in a horizontal manner to keep the bottle cork from experiencing any cracks or shrinking which may result to admission of unwanted oxygen. The cork will protect the wine as long as its pushed firmly into the bottle, this is exactly what wine fanatics insist is done for their wine. It plays one of the leading roles to ensure that wine remains fresh and ages in a correct way.

Controlling Vibration

{Vibration can cause sediments to stir up and interferes with the process of aging. Not unless wines are prepared to be served, avoid applying too much pressure and vibration on it.}

Controlling Temperature

To keep the wine so it is drinkable you must control the temperature, its difficult to keep the wine at the correct temperature but doing this will ensure your wine lasts for a long time. Once wine is stacked away in a particular condition wherein it is too cold, the bottle cork can wither that may lead to oxygen piercing through it. Storing the wine in a warm place will make the wine maturate faster. For great tasting wine, it should be stacked away in a temperature with an optimal level of 50-55 degrees Fahrenheit or 10-12 degrees Celsius.

If you had a basement then that would be an perfect place to store your wine. You must keep your room at a constant temperature as continuous changes will harm the cork and your precious wine.

That is why it is best that wine specialists should be firm in taking good care of their wines so that years of waiting wouldn’t go to waste just because of a mistake.
