Finding tenant for any unoccupied house is definitely a very good idea. Above and beyond getting enough cash for maintenance of the place, the rent can certainly add to the family’s income. But foremost important thing is to get good tenants in order to ensure peace of mind & safety in the long run. There are basically three types of tenant screening that should be done by any landlord before renting property. These are:

1 Identity check: It is very much important to determine the identity of the person. Photo-ID is excellent way of doing this. Social Security cards, driving licenses, or any other legal ID proof can be checked and verified.
2. Financial screening: Before signing any document, probable tenant’s economic status should be verified. Thorough checking of his/her credit checks must be done. The person should also have a permanent job with enough salary to cover the rent expenses after excluding basic expenses.
3. Personal observation: The appearance & the body language tell you a lot about that person. For example, if the prospective tenant is fidgeting constantly, there are higher chances that he/she is hiding something.
Getting a tenant is good idea but to ensure peace of mind proper tenant screening is very much important.
